Goodwood Festival of Speed – Volvo’s Switch to Pure

V60 Plug In Hybrid

This year Volvo, will launch a world’s first:
a plug-in hybrid the V60 that you charge in an ordinary electric socket
to drive up to 50 km on pure electricity. You can then switch to drive
fuel-efficiently on diesel, with the hybrid technology to support
efficiency.

I was invited to come and see the car in the flesh at the Volvo stand within Goodwood’s Festival of Speed.  They kindly arranged for a car to pick me up from my house to take me to and from the festival, a journey completed by the VIP Volvo shuttle bus.

As well as getting to see this ingenious machine up close, I would get to hear five people in the know discuss the concept of sustainable luxury, ( shouting over the red arrows that were roaring above us) This very interesting delve into the topic and all relating issues was followed by a champagne reception hosted by the lovely Leah Wood.

The Panel featured the following knowledgeable heads…..

Jo Wood: Founder of award winning beauty range, Jo Wood  Organics and owner of the sustainable pop-up restaurant
‘Mrs Paisley’s Lashings’. Jo is a keen supporter of sustainable luxury
and has sat on the judging panel for the Observer Ethical Awards and is
an ambassador fir London College of Fashion’s ‘Centre for Sustainable
Fashion’

Robert Llewellyn: Renowned  actor, presenter and writer who is known for his interest in sustainable products.  Robert is best known for his role as Mechanoid Kryten in the hit sitcom sensation Red Dwarf.

Andrew Tuck:  Founding Editor of Monocle, a luxury global affairs magazine which covers the world of fashion, design and worldwide news.
