If you don’t know the brand Jockey, they are a pretty big deal and not just in terms of underwear. They are trailblazers, innovators and led the way for many other underwear brands being the first ever to be displayed in a store – before that they were sold in a rather secretive manner from a salesman who would retrieve your chosen brief from a hidden store room. Their advert also featured in the firs issue of Sports Illustrated. They are the biggest selling underwear brand in the US. However the Jockey Themed fact that is reason enough to ensure you to take note of the brand is that they were the chosen brief for the famous Tom Cruise pant baring scene in Risky Business…….
I had a pretty hectic Tuesday on my cards, which involved 7 separate meetings/appointments, and dragging my weary body around town all day. However, when I saw the invite for the press day for Jockey Men’s underwear and the fact that make models would be showcasing the new collections I knew it was worth adding to the schedule.
I’m not going to pretend I took it in my stride, in fact when I entered the room to a line of incredibly ripped scantily clad male models I felt the sweat glands go into overdrive and a flush pink take over my cheeks, not knowing where to direct my awkward gaze. In panic mode I quickly shuffled in my the chaos that is my day bag to try and find my camera, and said ‘ I need to take a picture for the blog.’
I’m pretty sure the PR’s and model’s were all thinking ‘perv’ rather than ‘oh what a professional’.
While looking at the various ranges which were each flanked by a different model, it was clear they were aware of my inability to cope with the situation. As I tried to have a educating chat about the fit of the briefs and the technology behind them one said, ‘why can’t you look me in the eyes’ …. I thought the answer was pretty obvious!
I feel I have got distracted away from the intention of the blog – to showcase the new collection- so enjoy the pictures below which give you a feel for the designs on offer…
