Due to my location the majority of my content is linked to London. I thought it was a about time I drew your attention to some standout style destinations situated in other parts of the world.
Brighton is renowned for a being a hot bed for creativity – dense in musicians, artists and fashionistas and it now has a perfectly appointed new boutique store in the shape of Our Daily Edit. I have no doubt it will become the go to place for hand picked designer clothing and emerging fashion talent. I caught up with former TV industry peeps Marc Lewis and Ella Wells and about their exciting new venture…
What was the inspiration for the exterior and interior of the store, and overall feel of the brand?
We wanted the clothes to really dress & create the mood of the store so everything, both in store and with our branding is very clean & simple. Our store is light & feels spacious due to white walls, a simple concrete effect floor and lots of succulents & air plants. We were inspired by Scandinavian design and have a few pieces by design brand HAY in store.
Our branding is very much in the same vein – clean, simple & bold.
How was the recent launch party?
Our launch party was great fun, we invited designers, agents, artists, musicians and local business owners down to the shop. Christopher Raeburn even cycled all the way from London to attend the event and with cold beers on tap from Green & Pleasant, the shop was the place to be!
Any celeb clients yet?
Not yet but we’re waiting!
What experience did you have previous to this?
For the last 10 years we have worked in Television, directing and producing documentaries but previously to this, Ella worked in Marketing & Merchandising in Fashion. We have both always followed Fashion and love exploring new cities and the shops they have to offer.
We both felt there was a need for a shop that brought emerging and exciting new designers down to Brighton. A place where people could feel inspired and discover brands they hadn’t seen before.
What makes Our Daily Edit different from other shops…
By selecting brands from across the globe that offer unique, stylish and wearable designs, ODE aims to provide an edited collection of clothing, footwear, bags & accessories for modern men and women.
We feel that everyone creates their own style & brings their own personality to an outfit and so Our Daily Edit hopes to express that through the variety, colour & spectrum of brands stocked.
Favourite pieces in the shops right now?
Draw in Light cloud print silk swing dress – the perfect dress for summer, wear on the beach with flats, over skinny jeans for the day or with an oversized sweatshirt for beautiful summer evenings.
Christopher Raeburn quilted raglan bomber – the bomber jacket is one of this season’s key looks and Christopher Raeburn has nailed it with this contrasting sleeve & shimmer blue body bomber.
Moxham otto cuff in silver – every wrist should be adorned with one of Moxham’s cuffs and we’re loving the new silver colourway of the popular otto cuff.
What designers do you stock?
We stock a range of established & emerging designers. For womenswear we stock, Draw in Light, Christopher Raeburn, Marina, Won Hundred, Baum und Pferdgarten, Petit Bateau, Armor Lux, Levis Made & Crafted, LF Markey, LNA, Dress Gallery, Wood Wood & 5Preview. As well as Sophia Webster shoes, Sol Sana shoes, Sandqvist bags and Moxham jewellery.
Are you supportive of young and emerging designers?
Supporting and discovering new and emerging designers is integral to ODE and we have many young London designers including Marina, Draw in Light, Moxham & LF Markey.
What are your tips for Summer dressing?
For us summer dressing is all about loose layers & clean lines. We love Marina London’s Alphabet tees and paired with jeans or shorts it makes the perfect relaxed festival vibe.
We also love the classic French look for summer and our Armor Lux Breton tops are the original & the best!
Any more in store events planned?
Over this year we plan to invite several of our designers down to the shop to host some in-store events & much more.
